Large Part CNC Machining

With a cutting envelope of 8' x 16' x 4', our large part 5-axis CNC machine can create complex and highly accurate large parts to meet your needs. Often times, we have cut parts up to 32 feet long, as we can machine one end of the part and then flip it over and machine the opposite end; resulting in a processed part twice the length of the machine.

Typical tooling applications on our large part CNC machine include work for the aerospace industry, as they typically require larger parts as well as the machining of new materials. Other industries that we have commonly served with our large part machining capabilities include marine, automotive, aeronautical, and architectural. See our University of Michigan Solar Car Project, which due to our large capacity capabilities we were able to tool mold plugs made in one full piece from 20 lb tooling foam.

We can work with a wide variety of materials, including many dust producing materials, as the machine can be contained within plastic walls and has its own dust collection system to prevent any inhalation hazards. In addition, we commonly machine foams, tooling board, mdf (medium density fiber board), woods, plastics, ceramics, and abrasives.
